If the guest cancels the reservation previously paid by bank card and in case the tariff and terms provide for the refund of the previously paid amount of money (or part of the money) to the guest, the hotel transfers the amount to the guest’s bank card account, from which the payment was made. The refund period is from 1 to 30 calendar days depending on the Bank that issued your card.

If you pay using Sberbank PJSC, the refund will be made in the same way as the payment was made.

How long should I expect to receive funds on my card when I make a return?

According to the requirements of the legislation, banks credit funds to the client’s bank card within 30 working days from the date of receipt of the application in the system. Thus, refunds are issued within 3 to 40 business days.

The whole process is as follows:

The accounting department of the hotel sends copies of the applications to the bank with which the acquiring agreement – servicing of plastic cards of clients has been concluded. It can take several days. Then, within 3 working days, the bank officer records the received application, checks it for accuracy and sends it for execution. On the next day, the relevant bank unit shall make a return of funds to the correspondent, i.e. general, account of the bank where the applicant has a card. The further term of crediting the cardholder’s account depends only on the policy and promptness of the servicing bank. As a rule, commercial structures make a quick return of money to the card, the terms of state banks reach the maximum allowable value of -30working days.

Why can’t the hotel refund money paid by card through the cashier’s office in cash?

Institutions cannot resort to such a simple and quick solution to the problem for one simple reason – Russian legislation and the tax authorities of the Russian Federation treat such operations as illegal cashing of funds, and therefore impose serious fines on delinquent organizations.
