Open-air museum Nizhnyaya Sinyachikha, through which lies the travel route of UNESCO - is a kind of a time machine: going inside a church, a chapel, a manor you begin to understand how your ancestors lived: what dishes they used, how they washed in bathhouse, how they cooked their dinner, what books they read, which icons they were praying. The museum of wooden architecture in Nizhnyaya Sinyachikha - is a unique collection of wooden buildings of 17-19 centuries, gathered from all over the Urals. Here you can see an old fire tower and a wooden fort and chapels, and peasant houses. There are only two such monuments in Russia - Nizhnyaya Sinyachikha and Kizhi.
And everything started with a completely private business - with the desire of Ivan Samoilov (1922-2008 years) to find the roots of his own family. Family history is closely linked with the history of Ural villages in particular Nizhnyaya Sinyachikha. Land Surveyor I. D. Samoilov traveled a lot from village to village and constantly made sketches of ornaments, patterns, adorned village houses, and his special admiration was because of house-painting.
To assemble collection Ivan Danilovich began in the 50's, when he noticed that painted huts were rapidly disappearing, the reasons were repairs, fire, buildings were sawed for firewood. Gradually were assembled about 20 different collections.
According to the collector a suitable place for the museum was Spaso-Preobrazhenskaya Church, the building of rare beauty and architecture, but in very poor state. For 10 years (1967-1977 years) lasted reconstruction of the church under the guidance of I. D. Samoilov, almost without money, with a team of pensioners.
In 1979 in the village Nizhnyaya Sinyachikha began creation of Museum under the open sky "Nizhnyaya Sinyachikha". On 64 hectares are set masterpieces of wooden architecture and patterns of technical thought of 15-19 centuries. On the territory of the museum complex are held folk celebrations, holidays: Shrove Tuesday, Trinity, Ivan Kupala, Festival of Saviour, Epiphany and others.
You can become active participants on them, with the support of the team Real Russian Expedition, or on your own. Ride and open your own Sinyachikha: walk on it hills, listen to the whistling of the wind in the wings of a windmill, look in windows of village huts and chapels, learn more about wooden architecture.
Do you know that walls of peasants' huts were painted in magical colors? Would you be interested to know what is encoded in patterns of carved door trims of village windows?
